Highly Capable Program

South Bend Highly Capable Program

The South Bend School District is committed to identifying and providing for the intellectual, social, and emotional needs of each of our students, including those students who may qualify as “Highly Capable”. 

The district looks at a variety of factors in determining Highly Capable program participants, including performance on state and local exams, as well as performance on an IQ test.  Once students qualify, a program will be developed to meet their specific needs.  Possible aspects of students’ plans include acceleration, differentiation of learning, integration of technology, grade level cluster grouping for reading and math, and the opportunity to participate in online college or AP courses (depending upon grade level).
